This i need to know:
All types of disturbances from the schizophrenic picture with or without paranoia is common, that the mental health system of the person concerned is cut off from the surrounding world. They have lost contact with themselves and others. They feel themselves different, they struggle with fears, constraints and depression. They experience permanent up and downs, lose structures of everyday life and much more.
The psychic system is in chaos, the normal order has been lost. The person concerned is at times no longer able to make realistic assessments of the actual situation and cannot react appropriately. This mental illness is probably one of the heaviest and very complex and lengthy.
The bond with an animal is often the only reliable that remains despite general alienation.
Animals help affected people often to stay alive despite all the suffering. They are a life line when everything is other is breaking down.
What can I do?
It can sometimes take a long time for drugs and/or therapy to bring lsome stability – sometimes symptoms persist for years. The animal supports the connection to the present moment and leads the person concerned to himself and to his own way. These are very special moments that give hope. Due to the interaction with the animal it is possible to train routine habits that pave the way for the restoration of structure and tasks.
How can my animal support me?
Who is able to create to his animal a good and stable relationship will experience more confidence and motivation in general. This is important and valuable as life line despite of all mentioned illness symptoms. The animal leads back to the present moment and helps affected persons to deal with the surrounding world. They are faithful companions in heavy times. They anchor and stabilize, they help to find sense in existence despite everything.
What needs my emotional support animal?
In particular, time, attention, species-appropriate attitude. Don’t forget to relax yourself and your pet regularly – because fear is always massive stress – for both – and chronic stress is unhealthy.
